A little bit about me.

I’ve been a transit driver for 32 years, 14 of those years in southern Indiana, the rest in Chapel Hill NC. I’ve been commuting to work by bike for about 5 years, a round trip distance of 15 miles five days a week. I’m very interested in the way buses and cyclists share (or don’t share!) the road. We (buses and bikes) behave differently from cars and bikes
on account of two main reasons a) competition for turf and 2) relative slow speeds. Buses and bikes tend to operate on the far right hand portion of the road. A bus can get up to car speeds but is frequently stopping to load/unload passengers. Average speed of a bus plying a local transit
route= 13 mph. Sound like a familiar bike speed? What say we discuss the concept of bikes and buses leapfrogging in a future post if indeed there are viewers in this blog infested world of ours who might care about the subject.
